Our tree for the birds

Cranberries attached with peanut butter and cornmeal decorate a pinecone.

Katie and I went to a wonderful workshop at the Bowman's Hill Wildflower Preserve last weekend. On a Friday evening, we learned how to decorate our outdoor space with edible holiday decorations for the birds and other wildlife in our backyard.

In addition to the items pictured, we made Cheerio icicles, cranberry wreathes, cookie cutter bread cutouts (covered with peanut butter and cornmeal then dipped in black sunflower seeds) and several suet and birdseed covered pine cones.

Although we live in downtown New Hope, we are visited by squirrel, deer, raccoons, opposums, groundhogs, and even the occasional fox in the neighborhood.  Hard to believe we can have so many critters around and still walk out for a cup of coffee!
